What Are You Co- Signing
What are you co-signing/agreeing with / Are you jumping on the bandwagon
Before I begin my rant lol. Let me start by saying first I am in complete awe of the Lord and His awesome timing and confirmation. Also a huge shout out to my Lil Sis Jaleesa (awesome young woman of God) who during our Praise dance rehearsal brought to my attention this topic through scripture. So Hi5 to her.
Ezra praised the LORD, the great God; and all the people lifted their hands and responded, "Amen! Amen!" Then they bowed down and worshiped the LORD with their faces to the ground. - << Nehemiah 8:6 >>
Cross reference
1 Corinthians 14:16 If you are praising God with your spirit, how can one who finds himself among those who do not understand say "Amen" to your thanksgiving, since he does not know what you are saying?
amen
Definition
a·men[ ay mĂ©n ]
1.
so be it: said or sung at the end of a prayer or hymn to affirm its content
2.
expressing strong agreement: used to express strong agreement
"amen to that"
Ok soooo let me just say that this one hit me like a ton of bricks! Because I have spent the past year attempting to justify certain things I've done and have refused to do!
If you know me personally then you know I'm not the type to co-sign anything.
Especially shenanigans!
I'm also not a bandwagon jumper. So no just because you don't like a person doesn't me I'm going to not like them either. I was given my own brain for a reason.
So as I came across this in scripture I was so happily tickled at the fact that God has a scripture for every situation under the sun.
So all you co-signers and bandwagon jumpers aren't doing anything new!
But you may want to take a moment to read up on it.
What are you co-signing? Have you jumped on the bandwagon?
This is occurring in so many different instances I'm unsure of where to begin.
Relationships
Friendship has lost its true essence in the 20th century it seems.
Being friends has become watered down and limited to what you can post in 140characters or less.
Sad.
A true friend, in love can let you know when your wrong. Not co-sign your wrong in order not to hurt your feelings because that would make them wrong by association. As adults we can agree to disagree. That shouldn't make our friendship less than what it is. Because to tell the truth is always better than a well dressed up lie.
In this day it's sad but as adults we are still fighting to fit in. Knowing we were made to stand out!
And truthfully why would you want to be down with a group that seems to do everything you know is wrong? Why relax your standards just to fit in?
Media
I've said it a million times and it still bears repeating. Why are you quoting people and songs and have no clue what they are "really" talking about.
I'm so sick of grown woman and men quoting this nonsense and sounding like complete idiots. And I think with the woman it bugs me more because we are the first teachers of the children. And what are they learning if you are busy quoting crap instead of English?
If anything leave that to the teenagers we were young once. But if your over 30yrs old, and you aren't in a media driven profession where your getting a check for speaking in such a manner then leave it to those who do.
And for the record here's a tidbit for you via the urban dictionary
Just a FYI for those who like to quote slang
Cray: The origin of the term "Cray" from the Niga$$ in Paris single by Kanye West and Jay Z
Is not a shortened version of "Crazy", nor is it "Cray" it is actually "Kray"
It's in reference to the schizophrenic twins Ronald and Reginald Kray. The Kray twins were crime lords in London in the 50s and 60s, and the police failed to locate them on numerous occasions. Hence the lyric " Ball so hard motherfu$$$$$ wanna find me That shi$ Cray"
Trap: This one has a couple of definitions none of which fall under something that should be referenced by anyone over 30 who isn't selling or doing drugs
1) a safe house
2) A place where drugs and drug money or paraphernalia is kept to avoid it being found by police or thieves
3) The ghetto specifically in Atlanta (where the term originated) is called "the trap" because it's inhabitants are stuck in a cycle of drug dealing and hustling to survive and therefore trapped and unable to make a better life.
4) A place to set up shop that usually has one way in and one way out
Giving it up: the act of a female giving someone sex
And let's not forget the reality television quotes that their true meaning is really unknown because we don't know the thought process behind half the crap that is said on these shows. And truthfully speaking if it was an original thought to begin with seeing as the people on these shows get paid to say such things. And are making money because you buy into it.
"You ain't bout that life" This statement besides being an oxymoron irks my nerves to no avail
So your right I'm not about "that life" whatever that may be and you probably don't know yourself, I'm about my life the one God is ordering the steps of.
"Your a non mf factor" If something isn't a factor as you claim then you wouldn't have to address it or give it a title.
The Word tells us in Exodus 23 1&2
Put not thine hand with the wicked to be an unrighteous witness
Thou shalt not follow the multitude to do evil
Simply put Stop being a co signer/bandwagon jumper!
How can you co sign something without any true knowledge of it? How can you agree with the group just because, knowing what their doing/saying is wrong? Are you not guilty by association?
Wow. This post was profound, and oh so very relevant. The word of God tells us that we are to be a light...and also that we are to be set apart because we are not of the world. I've discussed how complex this theory can be,as we do live in the world. As Christians, we are to set standards...GODLY standards. I don't think there's anything wrong with using popular catch phrases as long as they don't dishonor God. The phrases you mentioned are degrading, and many use them without realizing the origins. This is where we have to be careful because there is power in words. I try to speak words of life, encouragement, and biblical truth. It can be annoying to see folks jump on a bandwagon that is heading straight into a ditch. If more of us would think about the things we say and pay attention to the things we digest, the enemies tactics in this area would be useless. Hopefully prayer and discernment will keep many of us from jumping on bandwagons that are not in the will of God.
ReplyDeleteGreat post sis!
Thank you Dany for taking the time to comment. Yes the enemies tactics would be useless if we paid more attention. And also if we were stronger in our knowledge of Gods word. We are told to study and show ourselves approved. Thank you my sister in Christ.
